" Vastu Shastra and the Placement of Mandir at Home 🕉️
Vastu Shastra is the ancient Indian science of architecture that harmonizes the five elements of nature to bring health, prosperity, and spiritual well-being. Among various aspects of a home, the placement of a Mandir or Puja Ghar is one of the most significant. A well-placed Mandir not only strengthens spiritual energy but also brings peace and positivity to the household.
Ideal Direction for Mandir as per Vastu:
1. Northeast (Ishan Kona):
Considered the most auspicious zone for divine activities.
It represents the convergence of energy from the North and East – both highly sattvic (pure) directions.
Place the Mandir in the northeast corner of the home or the prayer room facing northeast.
2. East or North:
If northeast is not available, the east or north directions are the second-best options.
Placement Guidelines for Deities:
Idols or pictures of deities should face West or East, so that the worshipper faces East or West while praying.
Avoid placing idols directly on the floor. Use a wooden or marble platform.
The idols should not be too large (not more than 9 inches tall).
Do not place broken or chipped idols or photos in the Mandir.
Do’s for Mandir Placement:
✅ Keep the Mandir clean and well-lit at all times.
✅ Use light, soothing colors for the Mandir space like white, cream, or pastel shades.
✅ Light a ghee lamp or diya in the east or southeast corner of the Mandir.
✅ Ensure daily prayers, chanting, or meditation in the space to activate the energy.
Don’ts for Mandir Placement:
❌ Avoid placing the Mandir in the bedroom, bathroom, or under stairs.
❌ Do not place Mandir in the southwest direction, as it’s associated with stability, not divine flow.
❌ Never keep the Mandir adjacent to or sharing a wall with a toilet.
❌ Avoid clutter, keeping unused photos, torn pictures, old flowers, or ash in the Mandir.
